Innovation as a Structured System

A multidisciplinary innovation program transforming emerging signals, systems thinking, and collaborative research into future product, service, and R&D opportunities.

Innovation inside large organizations rarely fails because of a lack of ideas. More often, it fails because knowledge, teams, and perspectives remain disconnected. For Grupo Boticário, the challenge was not simply generating new concepts, but creating a structured process capable of transforming dispersed signals into coordinated strategic direction.

Flutter Innovation designed and facilitated a multidisciplinary innovation program that connected research, macrotrend analysis, systems thinking, and collaborative experimentation into a single operational framework. More than 50 participants from marketing, technology, engineering, R&D, and business strategy took part in a process focused on identifying future opportunities across products, services, and organizational capabilities.

The initiative combined field observation, cultural analysis, emerging behavioral patterns, and future-oriented design methods to explore how the beauty industry could evolve across physical, digital, environmental, and social dimensions. Rather than positioning innovation as isolated ideation sessions, the program treated innovation as a system — one shaped by customer behavior, sustainability, logistics, technology, experience design, and shifting cultural expectations.

Over the course of the program, the teams generated more than 100 concepts and developed 13 structured business model prototypes connected to medium- and long-term opportunity areas. Themes such as personalization, phygital retail experiences, sustainable materials, reverse logistics, and emerging male consumer behaviors surfaced as strategic directions with potential business relevance.

Beyond the concepts themselves, the project established a shared innovation language across departments while creating a clearer pipeline for experimentation and future development. The outcome was not a collection of disconnected ideas, but a more coherent framework for navigating uncertainty, identifying opportunities, and aligning multidisciplinary teams around long-term innovation priorities.

The project reinforced Flutter’s approach to innovation: making complexity understandable, collaborative, and actionable without reducing its depth.
